Parent to Parent is looking for an enthusiastic Regional Coordinator in the Nelson/Marlborough/Tasman region with exceptional people skills, who is empathetic, flexible and highly organised and who can relate to a wide variety of people.

Parent to Parent is a peer-to-peer support organisation that has supported Kiwi families raising a family member with a disability, neurodiversity or health impairment for 40 years. Parent to Parent offers a range of vital services and programmes including the services of Altogether Autism and Care Matters.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Regional Coordinator with exceptional people skills, who is empathetic, flexible and highly organised and who can relate to a wide variety of people.

The Nelson Regional Coordinator is responsible for delivering the services of Parent to Parent in the Nelson region. This includes providing local disability information to individuals and families, organising and hosting support groups for parents, workshops and family events, and liaising with organisations across the disability sector to ensure our Nelson families are connected, informed and supported. Our Regional Coordinators bring their experience, empathy and integrity to work alongside whānau in a manner that is engaging, warm and respectful.

It is essential that you have:

  • Genuine interest in working in the not-for-profit sector
  • Knowledge of and/or a commitment to the Enabling Good Lives Principles
  • An understanding of how Enabling Good Lives can support disabled people and their families to realise their vision and live a good life
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Knowledge of your local community, especially the disability community
  • Strong understanding of disability rights and advocacy
  • Proven networking skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and to manage your own time
  • Experience in data entry, administration and Microsoft 365 programmes
  • A home office, or the ability to work from home
  • A full NZ drivers license and reliable car
  • And are comfortable getting out and about in the community
  • Lived experience of disability as a disabled person, or a family member of a disabled person is preferred
