The Te Tauihu Volunteer Strategy has been proudly launched in Nelson at the Community and Whānau Hui. It was developed by community organisations, local Councils, inter-agency staff, and the wider community. Vision Everyone in Te Tauihu has easy access to a broad range of fulfilling volunteer work opportunities –to enrich their lives while contributing and connecting to their community. Goals The community has access to flexible, rewarding volunteer opportunities. Organisations are supported by people who contribute their time and expertise. Barriers to volunteering are identified and addressed. All formal and informal volunteering in our communities is recognised, valued and celebrated.
Our Kawenata signing ceremony was a powerful moment of unity, reaffirming our collective commitment to whanaungatanga and collaboration. Community-led development (CLD) aims to strengthen the vitality of local communities by activating and weaving the contributions of everyone connected to a place. This year, Neighbours Aotearoa marks 15 years of strengthening neighbourhood connections across Aotearoa. What began in 2009 as a one-day initiative has grown into a year-round movement, bringing thousands of neighbours together each year. While participation is welcome year-round, there is a dedicated emphasis on involvement throughout March.
