Cooperative Living Opportunities Top of the South

This event is for people interested in advancing, are curious about, or wanting to live in any form of cooperative living, (ie tiny home village, ecovillage, co-living, co-housing, papakāinga, agrivillage, etc)


This event is for people interested in any form of cooperative living, (ie tiny home village, ecovillage, co-living, co-housing, papakāinga, agrivillage, etc) in the Top of the South Island, Aotearoa NZ.  We welcome iwi, community-based organisations, developers, builders, engagement professionals, council staff, elected members, students, and general members of the public.

Part 1: Learn about the Cooperative Living Planning Rule, of Tasman District Council’s Tasman Resource Management Plan, which allows for multiple dwellings on rural land without needing to subdivide.

Part 2: Learn about a variety of community-led, cooperative or collaborative housing projects around the world and the policies, finance, and other factors that contribute to their success and ability to make a positive impact for residents and the wider environment and community.

Part 4: Participatory workshops on community-led housing and cooperative living. You will gain new perspectives and skills that are essential to the success of any type of project.

Part 5: Structured networking: Meet others who might like to join your initiative or find others who share a common vision for a living arrangement.

Plant-based nibbles and refreshments will be served.

The event is hosted by Zola Rose of Common Ground who is a community development and community engagement practitioner living at Riverside Community in the Tasman District.

The cost of the event is tiered. Zola has recently launched the educational and inspirational show Homefullness: Change-making conversations on housing for people and planet to enable more affordable, connected, and sustainable places to live, found on podcast platforms, YouTube, and other social media.
