Richmond Service Centre upgrade – press release

The Ministry of Social Development’s Work and Income Service Centre at Richmond will close for renovations for three weeks from 5 May 2023.

The interior upgrade of the building at 275-279 Queen Street will provide a more welcoming space for visitors, improved privacy for clients working with case managers, and better security for visitors and staff alike.

“We’re very excited about this upgrade,” says MSD Regional Commissioner Craig Churchill.

“We’re looking forward to bringing to Richmond a new and improved site which is in line with improvements made at our other service centres in Nelson City and Motueka last year.”

Clients will still be able to access services while the centre is closed via MyMSD, the Work and Income website, or by calling 0800 559 009. Service centres in Nelson City and Motueka will also be open during normal business hours.

“These layout changes have been tested and are already in many of our service centres around the motu. We’ve had really good feedback from clients, our people and community groups about the changes.”

The Richmond Service Centre will reopen to the public on Tuesday, May 30.
