Homeshare for Her celebrating with wāhine of Nelson Tasman

www.homeshareforher.nz is one year and growing with over 160 women registered online to find and share homes and build social connections. The team is very excited to be celebrating with several women who are already on their home-sharing journey.

It’s been a year since our website www.homeshareforher.nz launch on 1 November 2023. HomeShare for Her Trust, founded in 2022, launched the website as a safe place for women to connect to find and share  homes in Nelson Tasman. It is a pilot programme and the first of its kind in Aotearoa. It has grown in leaps and bounds since its launch, with wonderful encouragement and support from all areas of our community.

We are very grateful to the lovely wāhine of Te Tauihu and to community supporters such as Nelson City and Tasman District councils and community centres, Office for Seniors, Rāta Foundation, Ministry for Women, DIA, Tindall Foundation, Volunteer Nelson, NMIT, Greypower, RNZ, Best Life Magazine, CAB, Community Action Nelson, Nelson Women’s Centre, the Nelson Tasman Housing Trust, Nelson Arts Festival and State Cinema Nelson, to name a few, who are all helping to get the word out.

HomeShare for Her is about providing a safe starting point of connection between women wanting to find and share affordable homes, share living expenses, and build social connections towards greater wellbeing. As of 31 October, we have over 160 women registered, with 23 homes on offer across Nelson Tasman from over 60 home owners and 100 homeseekers (private or visible) who can connect with each other socially or to find and share homes together. We also celebrate with the women already matched and on their homesharing journey!

HomeShare for Her is not a service for women in crisis, but aims to help reduce the pressure on the public housing system. HomeShareforHer.nz has been designed to guide Home Owners and Home Seekers through the process of building connections towards homeshare opportunities and provides useful resource documents, like sharing agreements and police checks. Find out more on www.homeshareforher.nz and please help us spread the word.

The greater the number of people registered, the greater the choice and homeshare matches.

Onward and upward!
