The Nelson Tasman Disability Providers Forum is an quarterly meeting with an overarching purpose of strengthening the sector to improve outcomes for the community.
This event is intended for providers, organisations and groups that support individuals and their families with disabilities.
Following feedback from our last meeting we will create a range of opportunities for sector networking along with presentations from Fire and Emergency NZ, The Buzz and the local Needs Assessment Service Coordination (NASC) team. More details on presentation content to come closer to the date.
HomeShareforHer.nz launched to address housing need
HomeShareforHer.nz launched at the beginning of November 2023 to help connect women to address their housing needs and forge social connections. Although in its early stages, the website is growing and we encourage women who face housing challenges to register on www.homeshareforher.nz to view available resources and start connecting!
Home Share for Her, a not-for-profit organisation which has been operating in the Top of the South since 2022, launched its website portal, HomeShareforHer.nz on 1 November 2023. The website is designed for women to connect with each other to address their housing needs and forge social connections.
HomeShare for Her, funded by the DIA, Tindall Foundation and Ministry for Women, took flight following Community Action Nelson’s ‘What is a home?’ exhibition in 2022 to tackle the housing crisis in Nelson and has grown into a fully-fledged, mutually beneficial, online service portal.
While HomeShare for Her is not a service for women in crisis, the website enables independent like-minded women to find affordable accommodation which will reduce the pressure on the public housing system.
Homeshareforher.nz has been designed to guide Home Owners and Home Seekers through the process of uploading their profiles and provides useful resource documents, like sharing agreements and police checks. A Home Owner could be someone who has a room or a section of their home they would like to share with another woman – a Home Seeker. Home Seekers can register their housing needs, view home spaces available, and also connect with other Home Seekers directly to hunt for a home together.
