Mental Health Awareness week Nelson Tasman 2025 “Step towards each other.”
The lead in to and during Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) is an opportunity to involve and encourage the whole community to take a step towards each other.
We know that loneliness and social isolation can significantly impact our communities and contributes to poor health outcomes. We wanted to do something that would bring people together to chat, create, and connect. Art is a creative space that supports connection and can bring people together.
This Mental Health Awareness week, join us in connecting with your community through art. Inspired by Faye Wulff’s Walks of Life installation, we are inviting people to decorate shoes to remind us of the importance of taking a step towards each other to strengthen our health and wellbeing. Our decorated shoes will be displayed around the region and will end up together in a big art installation at the Cathedral steps 11th October !
“Together, we envision a future where mental wellbeing is a shared responsibility and a lived reality for every individual, whānau, and community.” (Kia Manawanui Aotearoa 2021)
