This will be a one day workshop on the Te Tiriti o Waitangi on our local Marae in Nelson, we will be welcomed on by a Powhiri. If you haven’t been through this process before, or have any questions please don’t hesitate to email your questions. ( please be aware as a sign of respect and part of the tikanga, women wear below the knee skirts or trousers, no shorts or short skirts for the powhiri. You can change after the powhiri is complete if you wish to.)

Lunch will be provided for those attending the full day.

On the day we will look at:

Te Tiriti o Waitangi – The Basics ( Morning – Presenter Hemaima Hughes, President Te Kaunihera o Nga Neehi Maori o Aotearoa/National Council of Maori Nurses, Maori Liaison/Youth Education Nurse, Hapai Taumaha Haputanga/Crisis Pregnancy Support, Nelson)

Building Relationships with Iwi – Implementing Bi Cultural Policies ( Afternoon- Presenter – Shane Graham, Senior advisor Te Puni Kokiri

Please be outside marae at 8:45am. Training 9am-4.30pm (may finish earlier). Please bring a koha to present to the marae for Powhiri at 9am.

Please note Volunteer Nelson are supporting Nelson Tasman Youth Workers Collective to deliver this training. – There is no cost for members of the Nelson Tasman Youth Workers Collective. Youth Workers may join the Collective for $25. All others costs are $90 for the full day, $60 for morning (9am – 12.30pm), $37 for afternoon, (1.30pm – 4pm).
