International Volunteer Day is co-ordinated annually on the 5 December to recognise and promote volunteering. Without the invaluable work and time that volunteers give, the community and voluntary sector wouldn’t be able to function as effectively as it does.

IV Day is about acknowledging and congratulating all volunteers in our communities. IV Day provides an opportunity for New Zealanders to say thank you to our thousands of volunteers in Aotearoa who can be proud of the contribution they make.

The celebration also hopes to encourage continued support for the volunteer sector as well as encouraging new volunteers to lend a hand.

Volunteer Nelson will be in the Activities Room at Nelson’s Elma Turner Library from 10am until 1:30pm on Thursday 5th December where we’ll be saying a big Thank You to our volunteers – why not bring your volunteers along to say Thanks and celebrate their valuable contributions over the last year.  If you’re new to volunteering and want to find out more we’re happy to help. Complimentary drink & biscuit.
