Nikau Hauora Hub is hosting New Zealand Needle Exchange Programme for the day on Wednesday the 12th of April to promote and provide support around Hepatitis C testing and treatment, and COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.
Nikau Hauora Hub is hosting New Zealand Needle Exchange Programme for the day on Wednesday the 12th of April to promote and provide support around Hepatitis C testing and treatment, and COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. Tāngata whaiora interested in this will be supported by Phil Quarterman – Needle Exchange outlet branch manager, and Karen Aitken, the hepatitis C nurse. Karen and Phil would be supported by the COMPASS Peer Support and Advocacy team at Nikau Hauora Hub. NHH is a drop-in service providing a kai programme with meals available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for $4.00, wellbeing initiatives and programmes, and peer support and advocacy services for people experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges. For individuals who are eligible for a hepatitis C test, an easy finger prick test can tell if you have been exposed, and information and further support will be promptly available for those who have been or are wanting a test. With COVID-19 still being prevalent in the community, we are also strongly encouraging people to be up to date with their vaccinations and boosters. For those who would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccination or a booster, a peer support worker from Nikau Hauora Hub can accompany you and/or provide support and guidance before, during and after. This day will also be a great chance for those who are unsure or are not up to date with their general health checks, to be in a safe and comfortable environment to discuss further.
