Grants opening for community-led waste minimisation projects

The Rethink Waste Whakaarohia annual waste minimisation grants open on 20 February and close on 31 March for community-led projects which avoid or reduce waste.

Nelson City Council’s Rethink Waste Whakaarohia annual waste minimisation grants programme opens on 20 February and closes on 31 March.  Up to $40,000 is available (minimum $2,000, maximum $10,000 per project), for projects which lead to avoiding or reducing waste.  Examples of previous recipients include local schools for diversion of food waste; a local toy library to set up a loan birthday party kit, a feasibility study for reducing market waste and an app to make unsold food available for purchase at a lower price, amongst many others.
