Please note that most Work and Income service centres will be open for our normal business hours through the festive season, other than on weekends and statutory holidays. However, Tākaka's office will close until 8 January.
Nelson City Service Centre upgrade – press release
The Ministry of Social Development’s Work and Income Service Centre at 22 Bridge Street will close for renovations for six weeks from 1 September 2022.
The upgrade will see a new, dedicated employment space at front of house, improved privacy for clients working with case managers, and better security for visitors and staff alike.
“We’re very excited about this upgrade,” says MSD Regional Commissioner, Craig Churchill. “It has been a long time coming for this building and we’re looking forward to welcoming people back into a new and improved space.”
Clients will be able to access services via MyMSD, the Work and Income website, or 0800 559 009, while the centre is closed.
The upgrade will bring the Nelson site into line with improvements made at other service centres around the country, and the employment space will complement the Connected all-of-government navigator service for employment, education and training hosted at the site.
“These changes have been tested and are already in some of our service centres. We’ve had really good feedback from clients, our people and community groups about the changes.”
The Nelson City Service Centre will open to the public on Tuesday, 18 October.
