The Nelson Women’s Centre is looking for a Social Worker – part time (23 hours per week) to provide social work support, intervention, information, education and referrals. The Centre is to empower women/wāhine to be safe, resourceful, to value themselves, and to reach their potential. We do this through support, advocacy, counselling and educational groups.

Some key responsibilities:
Assess the holistic health, wellbeing and safety needs of clients
Provide social work support, intervention, information, education and referrals
Develop and maintain strong connections and working relationships with agencies in the Social Service and Community Sector.
Qualifications, Skills and experience:
A recognised social work qualification.
SWRB registered or working towards this.
An understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
A commitment to feminist philosophy and ability to work comfortably with all women/wāhine in a holistic, mana-enhancing and empowering way.
Experience of working collectively and ability to build and maintain working relationships with relevant community agencies.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, digital and written) with colleagues, individuals and community groups.
Ability to maintain timely and accurate records.
Shows initiative, adaptability and sound self-management skills.
Commitment to continued professional development and participation in regular supervision.
A current clear NZ driver’s license.
Experience in community work and well-rounded community development skills.
Knowledge of the local social service community sector.
Use of own vehicle.
