Fandemonium – Celebrating Fandom in the Community

A week of events celebrating fandom in the community from 17th – 23 Oct – fans of scifi and fantasy can come along to learn to play Dungeons and Dragons or card trading games in the library, sign up for a free videography class taken with an NMIT tutor, come along to Zoom talks with NZ authors overseas, Tamsyn Muir and Juliet Marillier.

Throughout the week, library staff members will be dressing up as well! Vote for your favourite library staff costume and help them get bragging rights!

Come in to talk to the volunteers who dress up as characters from Star Wars to collect for charities. They will be collecting for charity, so bring some cash and they might let you get a photo!

On 23rd October we have Fandorama, a full afternoon with HEMA sword-fighting performance, steampunk on show, and a Cosplay Showcase. Come dressed up as your favourite character – book, movie, TV series, anything! Sign up to enter the cosplay showcase and go in the draw for special prizes! This is a great opportunity to show off that costume you have been working on, or dress up as the superhero you secretly always knew you were.

Please note – there are online options for many of these events if we remain in Level 2. Keep an eye on the Nelson Public Libraries Facebook page for event updates. Some events require bookings. Email [email protected] for enquiries
