Shared Reading

Sit back and relax with a cup of tea, new friends, and a story. The library is running two Shared Reading sessions which are all about building connections and improving wellness through words. These are run by a trained librarian who will read aloud a short story or poem before inviting others to talk about what we have read. There is no need for group members to read aloud or speak – it’s fine to just listen and enjoy a cup of tea.

Applications now open: Volunteer Nelson Young Leaders Programme

Applications are open now for the Volunteer Nelson Young Leaders Programme. Participants work towards a 45 Credit Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work. The structure of the programme is that you do a week of intensive training in late January (24th-28th) covering off topics like Māori operating principles, ethics, youth culture, project planning etc. and then you have 6 months to complete practical assignments, a project and mentoring a young person.

Nelson Tasman Climate Forum Hui – 30 October

The Nelson Tasman Climate Forum is a community-led initiative open to everyone. Our mission is to weave individuals, households, civil society organisations, businesses, councils and iwi together around urgent, strategic action on climate change in the Nelson-Tasman region. We hold face-to-face hui four times each year (when covid allows it). These hui are an opportunity to connect, welcome new people into the Forum, share and celebrate progress, action and ideas together, and focus on a particular theme related to climate change.
