National Poetry Day Events – August

National Poetry Day is Friday 27 August and we have a week full of activities leading up to it, concluding with the Open Mic session with Roger Lusby, a free poetry-writing workshop with Cliff Fell, both at Elma Turner Library, and a Poetry Shared Reading session at Stoke Library.

Late August is the time of year when we celebrate poetry in all its forms. Pencil these events in your diary for Friday 27 August, at Elma Turner Library:
Our popular lunchtime open mic – come and share or sit back and listen, 12pm.
Practice your craft with Cliff Fell at a special workshop, 1pm, Elma Turner Library. Bookings are required for this event.
Throughout the week, you can try your hand at poetry with Ode to the Dictionary, our fun and creative activity. Or contribute your own poems connected to places around Nelson.

At Stoke Library there will be a Poetry Shared Reading. Come listen to some poems and chat with us about your thoughts. Stoke Library, Friday 27 August at 2pm
