Communities in Nelson/Tasman could be one step closer to embracing a more circular economy with the launch of a new sustainability App in the region. Mutu is a rental platform that is all about unlocking the value of under-utilised resources, all for the greater good of reducing landfill waste
‘Why buy when you can borrow’ is the mantra behind Mutu, an exciting new App which looks to challenge consumer culture and reduce the amount of items that sit around unused or end up in landfill. Mutu is a rental platform that is all about unlocking the value of under-utilised resources, potentially adding access to thousands of tools, sporting equipment and more for users across the region.
According to regional co-ordinator Olivia Gallagher, ‘It’s a great opportunity for users to make a bit of money by sharing the things they own and hardly use, as well as for those able to save money and the hassle of ownership by borrowing the things they will only use once or twice.’
Although Mutu is new on the scene, it has been making waves already, voted a finalist at the Sustainable Business 2020 Awards.
Mutu is currently looking for any volunteers passionate about environmental sustainability to come onboard through joining their Ambassador Programme, or simply show your support for Mutu through listing some items of your own & encourage a culture of sharing in your community.
