If you have a great idea for telling people about Nelson’s heritage, Nelson City Council would like to hear it.
Have you got a small electrical, household item or piece of furniture that needs fixing? How about a bike needing repair or clothes to mend? The Rethink Waste repair cafe will run from 10am to 1pm, Saturday 29 May at ReStore 166 Tahunanui Drive, Tahunanui. Trial sponsored by Nelson City Council, Mitre10 Mega, Habitat for Humanity and Nelson Environment Centre.
Fix It Saturday is a free community event open to all. It’s an opportunity to get that item that’s been hanging around for ages finally mended, and it’s also a chance to browse through the ReStore to find pre-loved items and have a coffee stop at Habitat’s Nook Cafe. This trial event is all about promoting re-use instead of having to throw items away. One item per household will be accepted, with a reception desk reviewing each item to ensure it is suitable for repair. Please note that this event is for minor repairs for small electrical appliances (excluding microwaves and electric blankets), small household items, furniture and toys, clothes and bicycles. Repair Cafes are a growing activity, and the intention is to support repair cafes becoming a regular feature in Nelson. The event takes place on Saturday 29 May from 10am to 1pm at Habitat for Humanity/ReStore, 166 Tahunanui Driver, Tahunanui. For more information email [email protected] .
