The Nelson City Council’s Long Term Plan 2021-31 is now open for consultation.
You have probably seen that The Elma Turner Library redevelopment project is part of a key issue identified as a priority in the consultation document and we’d really like to hear from community groups around the city on our proposal for a new library precinct, which includes building a new, larger, five star Green Star rated library on the corner of Halifax and Trafalgar Streets.
I know that it is often those individuals who use the library services the most that can find it difficult to make a submission. As Volunteer Nelson members work closely with these individuals, we encourage you to make a submission as an individual or group. These submissions will help us get a better sense of what is important to you and so we can hear your ideas for the future of our library and our city.
Please note, all feedback is considered public under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act, so it may be published and made available to elected members and the public. Public submissions must be received by 21 April 2021.
For more information and to make a submission please visit shape.nelson.govt.nz.

Nelson Women’s Centre is looking for 5 women to join the governance board
We are seeking 4 general governance members – those in the community who have a strong interest in women’s issues, health and/or wellbeing.
We are also seeking a treasurer: someone with accounting skills who can oversee our financial systems and processes and assist with the end of year account preparation.
This role requires accounting skills/experience. Both roles involve attendance at our governance meetings held on the first Tuesday of the month 4 pm – 6 pm and at times assistance with fundraising. For the treasurer role, there will be extra hours at the end of the financial year.
The Centre is making great changes currently towards a strengths-based culture etc, so there is an opportunity to have great impact and help to lead the centre for the years ahead.
