Nelson Environment Centre – Funding Coordinator
The Nelson Environment Centre is a social enterprise that helps the Nelson Tasman community live more sustainably and reduce its impact on the environment. We’re proud to have been serving our community since 1976.
Our aim is to inspire, inform and assist people to meet today’s environmental challenges. We help people to recycle, reduce waste and energy use. We empower them to create healthy soils and gardens, and to live well.
Mauria te Pono
Mauria te Pono, Believe in Yourself.
Mauria te pono is an 8week course for rangatahi in a farm setting with animal-based therapy included. For three hours a week the group will be immersed in animal interactions and care, group projects, connecting with whenua and enjoying natures treasures while also taking part in general farm duties. Individual sessions will be available on request by group members if required. The program includes 2 overnight stays on the farm. 1 personal discovery night and 1 group celebration stay. Culminating in a full whanau gathering of celebration in recognition of believing in themselves.
Cost: Free.
Criteria for attendees: Maori youth.
Course duration: 8 weeks.
Starting dates: 21st Jan 2021, 8th April 2021, 8th July 2021, 1st October 2021.
Days: Thursdays from 1pm to 4pm, plus two overnight stays (Thursday nights).
Location: Fossil Creek Farm, 100 Garden Valley Road, Brightwater.
