If you have a great idea for telling people about Nelson’s heritage, Nelson City Council would like to hear it.
Almost 70,000 New Zealanders are living with dementia today. This is expected to more than double by 2050! ‘Get Moving’ is the theme for World Alzheimers Awareness month (September). Join one of the local activities to ‘Get Moving for Dementia’ or create your own. Here are some ideas…
September is World Alzheimers Awareness Month and this year’s theme is MOVE FOR DEMENTIA. Movement is one of the ways you can help reduce one of the risk factors of dementia. We encourage everyone to Get Moving for Dementia! Grab your families and friends and do something active – like dancing, tramping, ball games, swimming, a friendly game of volleyball, rounders… and let Alzheimers Nelson know what you are doing to help raise awareness of dementia (share on Facebook or email us at [email protected]
You are also welcome to double up and make it a fundraiser for Alzheimers Nelson. All funds raised go towards our services to people living with demenita and their care partners and families in the Nelson Tasman region, as well as dementia education and advocacy. For more information, email [email protected] or call 03 546 7702.
VIRTUAL MEMORY WALK
Note: Due to the current uncertain times around Covid and physical distancing, we will not be running our memory walk this year in Isel Park, but we will be joining Alzheimers NZ and regional socieities in running an exciting, virtual memory walk currently being designed.
