Resources for Children and Families

We have put together some short clips highlighting Kidpower Skills that help both caregivers and children stay safe in their bubble during this time.
These are short 2min clips with puppets ‘Kidpower with Maree’ demonstrating Kidpower Powers that children can use along with a guide on how to use these.

As a prevention organisation, we have been creatively thinking about how we can continue to deliver our usual healthy relationships messaging and support schools, those working with young people and the young people themselves, all the whilst we are not out in our communities facilitating!

The Empowerment Trust approach increases protective factors and reduces risk factors for all types of violence (including sexual violence) by providing strategies, awareness, and skills to prevent potentially violent situations from escalating and getting out of control, build healthy relationships, and navigate conflict without aggression.

Our goal is to build a safer world with positive strategies to stop violence through empowering people and communities with safety and successful communication.

We have been doing some work on virtual messages for children and their families/whanau with regards to skills and strategies to use in their bubbles and are hoping that you might find these useful for sharing to the wider community.

We know that children take their cues from their trusted adults during stressful times about how to respond, and our response can set the tone in a household. Taking care of our own mental health is important to our own well-being, key to helping our children navigate ways to cope with their own feelings about the current situation, and also vital in helping them react to future stressful events.
