We are currently dealing with an unprecedented and fast-changing environment. While Tasman District Council need to focus on the immediate challenges for our community, we are also continuing to think about the long-term needs of our region.
We started seeking community feedback in mid-March 2020 to help develop the Long Term Plan 2021-2031. Our 2020 Vision for Tasman early engagement consultation is still open and, given the current situation, we have extended the feedback period until 12th of June 2020.
This extended date will allow you to comment on any COVID-19 response and recovery initiatives, as well as the Council’s proposed strategic priorities. Your direction on what we should be focusing on over the next 10 years is really important to us. We invite you to share your ideas for an overall vision for the future of Tasman District. What projects or activities do you want completed in this Long Term Plan? Are we on the right track with the current work programme? Are there new projects that we need to include? Are there activities that we can stop in order to start something new?
We anticipate that the implications of the current pandemic will be significant in the short to medium, and it will not be business as usual. Due to all the things we need to do and the cost of delivering them, unfortunately it will mean that we can’t give everything the green light. But now is the time, at the very beginning of drafting the plan, when you can have a say on the direction the Council should be taking over the next 10 years.
The full early engagement document for the Long Term Plan 2021-2031 is available on our website (click here). This document was written before the full extent of the virus and lockdown were known. Please put any specific COVID-19 related responses in Question 10.
We welcome feedback from individuals as well as on behalf of community groups. Please forward this information on to anyone else you think would be interested.
You can submit feedback online at https://submissions.tasman.govt.nz, or fill out the form in the engagement document and either post, email or drop it back to us.
We will not be holding any formal hearings or deliberations, but all the feedback and a summary will be reported to the Council. We will also make this information available on our website.
