The Seasons for Growth Adult Program was first launched in 1999 in Australia and is now run in the U.K. and New Zealand. Since that time it has proven to be an invaluable resource for building resilience and fostering social and emotional wellbeing in thousands of adults across Australia and overseas for people who have bereaved.
Unlike the WAVES programme, Seasons for Growth is not a suicide bereavement programme, but can nevertheless provide support and skills after a suicide. Its suggested that the programme would be less suitable for those in the early raw stages of grief (i.e. no sooner than 6 months after a bereavement). Note that the programme is not counselling or therapy. The Seasons for Growth programme will consist of 4 2 ½ hour sessions over a 4 week period, with 3 to 7 participants. (we currently have 2 people interested).
Karen Moynagh, a trained Seasons for Growth facilitator, has offered to run a group programme for those bereaved by suicide in Nelson in the New Year, starting in early February.
The total cost for each participant will be $25, to purchase the resource book for the programme, which you can keep.
If you would be interested in the Season for Growth course in the new year, or would be interested in further information about the course, please contact Paul at [email protected] or Karen at [email protected]
The four, two and half hour sessions will be facilitated by Karen (hopefully at the Richmond Hub, Queen Street, Richmond) from 7 pm to 9:30 pm, starting the week of 10th Feb.
