Adult Learning Support will be trialling a free drop in session on Fridays between 10am - midday, starting Friday 3 march. This is an opportunity for people to get help with things like, completing a job application, filling out a form, writing up a new CV, practising for their Learner's Driver Licence test, getting some help with computing skills, or sharpening up their maths, reading or writing skills. No need to make an appointment, just drop in!
Every year, Literacy Aotearoa helps over 250 people in Nelson and Tasman with life-changing education, the literacy, numeracy and digital skills they need for life and work.
We are looking for a literacy tutor to join our team. Working one to one and across a wide range of groups in a variety of locations, this demanding role is rewarding and makes a difference in our community. It requires proven experience and appropriate qualifications – you must either hold the NZCALNE or be prepared to get it,.
To be successful you will need to be
• experienced in Adult Literacy/Numeracy Tuition
• energetic, resourceful and flexible
• comfortable with technology
• able to build relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds
A preference is given to candidates with a good working knowledge of Te Reo Maori and Tikanga in order to lead our organisation in working within the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working with our priority students.
The position is based in Nelson. A driver licence is important.
This is a 20 hour per week permanent, paid position with scope for up to 32 hours/week if demand requires. This is a possible job share.
Due to the timing of this appointment, interviewing will occur in mid-January 2019.
