The Nelson City Council’s Long Term Plan 2021-31 is now open for consultation. You have probably seen that The Elma Turner Library redevelopment project is part of a key issue identified as a priority in the consultation document and we’d really like to hear from community groups around the city on our proposal for a new library precinct, which includes building a new, larger, five star Green Star rated library on the corner of Halifax and Trafalgar Streets. I know that it is often those individuals who use the library services the most that can find it difficult to make a submission. As Volunteer Nelson members work closely with these individuals, we encourage you to make a submission as an individual or group. These submissions will help us get a better sense of what is important to you and so we can hear your ideas for the future of our library and our city. Please note, all feedback is considered public under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act, so it may be published and made available to elected members and the public. Public submissions must be received by 21 April 2021. For more information and to make a submission please visit shape.nelson.govt.nz.
The 2019 expo will be held on Friday 22 March, 10.00 am–3.00 pm at the Headingly Centre, Richmond.

If you are a community group or a commercial business that offers a service, activity or opportunity that helps over-60s make the most of their golden years, you’ll want to be at the Positive Ageing Expo.
The Positive Ageing Expo has run annually since 2008 and attracts an average of 2000 people. The expo showcases the arts, leisure, recreational, health and social services that make ageing a positive experience. There will also be presentations, entertainment and activities for attendees to take part in.
Stall information and the online registration are on the Tasman District Council website, www.tasman.govt.nz. There are a limited number of stall spaces so get in early to avoid disappointment.
