Nelson Newcomers Welcomed At Miyazu Cherry Blossom Festival

Nelson newcomers welcomed at Miyazu Cherry Blossom Festival

The Miyazu Japanese Garden was abuzz with bees and visitors celebrating the burst of blossom under the Cherry Trees on Sunday 23 September. Jane Solly, our Volunteer Nelson Newcomers Network co-ordinator, put out the welcome flag and picnic mat for any newcomers and had some surprise visits from several people from Singapore, Germany and Japan.  “It’s always a lovely surprise meeting new people,” says Jane, who also went up on stage to tell people about Coffee and Connections for newcomers each month. Read more about it in Jane’s Volunteer Nelson blog post: Coffee and Connections. The next Coffee and Connections is at Morri Street Café, Hardy Street, on 16 October at 10-11.30am.

Check out the Nelson Newcomers Facebook page for more information and events. Network membership is free – for more information check out the website or e-mail Jane and Belinda [email protected]
