Nelson Public Libraries’ 175

On 27 September, Nelson Public Libraries, and our early partners, the Nelson Institute will celebrate 175 years of operation. No other library in the country can say they have served the community for a longer period of time. All are welcome to join us – we have events, and displays, throughout the day.

On 27 September, Nelson Public Libraries, and our early partners, the Nelson Institute will celebrate 175 years of operation. No other library in the country can say they have served the community for a longer period of time. All are welcome to join us – we have events, and displays, throughout the day:
•10am – Speech from Mayor Rachel Reese, historical vignettes from Nigel Costley and cutting the cake
•12.15 – Paul Bond and instrumentalists
•1pm – Nigel Costley and more historical vignettes
•6pm – Founded at Sea – the fascinating story of how the Nelson Institute began – a talk by Jessie Bray Sharpin

And it’s not too late to put a team together for the QUIZ NIGHT at 7pm – organised by the Friends and Nelson Institute.
