Build a Future with Habitat for Humanity Global Village – 24 June-1 July 2017

The life that’s changed may very well be your own

Each year hundreds of volunteers join the Global Village building homes for people in need.  Habitat New Zealand volunteers work alongside local families to build homes to help alleviate poverty housing around the world.

For families who are determined to break out of poverty, the programme enables them to build a better future. For children, a new home offers a chance to grow and thrive in surroundings that are safe. A place to live where they are sheltered from bad weather, fall sick less often, go to school more regularly, and get to enjoy childhood. For volunteers, it is the meaningful experience of building and interacting with Habitat partner families and making a difference.

Thailand, Rayong Province
24 June – 1 July 2017

16% of the Thai population lives below the national poverty line.  There is increasing migration from rural areas into urban centres by those in search of work as day laborers, market vendors or in the factory, leaving them with no choice except to pay high rents for small room or move into an already overcrowded area plagued by a lack of sanitation facilities and healthy home environment.  Many of them forced to piece together make shift shelters using scraps of wood and planks, rusted scrap metal, canvas, cardboard or leaves stretched between wire mesh.

Join a team of volunteers heading to Thailand this June for an amazing experience in South-East Asia. One week of building alongside a family to make sure they have a decent place to live could be a life-changing experience, so come along!
