The Cathedral Social Justice Group has arranged a meeting with Charles Waldegrave at the Cathedral at 6pm on Friday 25 November. He will be speaking on the need for a Living Wage.

A ‘Living Wage’ is defined in New Zealand as the income necessary to provide workers and their families with the basic necessities of live. A Living Wage will enable workers to live with dignity and to participate as active citizens in society (http://www.livingwage.org.nz/about).

His talk will address what constitutes a minimum adequate income for a family in contemporary NZ, including calculations for food, housing and energy needs and the impact it would have in our society and economy.

Charles Waldegrave is a psychologist, a social policy researcher, an Anglican priest and leads the Family Centre Social Policy Research Unit (FCSPRU). He and colleagues are regularly contracted by most Social Ministries of Government.Read More
