Help is at hand for people with Dyslexia
Dyslexia affects 1 in 10 people in Nelson and Tasman and if left undiagnosed can lead to ongoing challenges in life. Dyslexic people often have difficulties in school and as a result some may struggle in employment and find the work environment frustrating.
Ironically, those with dyslexia also often have other skills including the ability to think in 3D, be extraordinarily creative and can have strong logical reasoning skills.
We often see people at Adult Learning Support who are great workers, who have been offered promotions in their jobs and have turned them down through fear of paperwork. Throughout the course we provide support and strategies relevant to their work and help them overcome their fear of failure
If you or some you know is dyslexic and in work, Adult Learning Support (ALS) is running a course designed to give people strategies to cope with the rigours of life with dyslexia.
