Safeguarding Children Initiative, FREE eLearning child protection training – 16 February

Safeguarding Children Initiative (SCI) would like to share our FREE eLearning child protection training with our community.

Understanding child abuse, neglect and vulnerability is crucial in reducing the rates of child abuse we read about.  In response to an identified need for training the Safeguarding Children has produced a FREE online eLearning course on child protection. It is available via:

http://safeguardingchildren.org.nz/product/elearning-basic-awareness-child-protection/

The course covers:

  • Signs of abuse and neglect
  • Vulnerability
  • The Vulnerable Children’s Act, Privacy Act & other related legislation explained
  • Who to inform and how to share information
  • “Professional Dangerousness” and barriers to effectively passing on concerns
  • Internet safety

A certificate is issued upon completion and counts towards 2.5 hours of professional development.

It is the first child protection eLearning course in New Zealand and developed by the SCI team in Nelson. The feedback from all over the country is incredible and we want to share the eLearning with our local community so we can make our region the safest place in New Zealand to be be a child.
