Co-ordinator wanted to launch the Junior Neighbourhood Support programme in Nelson
Neighbourhood Support Nelson is launching the Junior Neighbourhood Support programme in Stoke and Victory primary schools in 2016 and is seeking a co-ordinator to implement and develop the programme.
The job is for 7 hours a week for a year, and may be expanded to 10 hours a week if additional funding is secured.
The Junior Neighbourhood Support programme aims to promote a sense of pride, safety and community spirit in children, their schools and their wider community. It recognises students who have assisted others or have done something that demonstrates community spirit or pride.
The co-ordinator of the programme will need to be able to relate well with staff, students and families, and inspire students to get involved. They will have excellent communication skills, be comfortable speaking in public, be well-organised and self-motivated. A teaching qualification or teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
The co-ordinator will also assist the Neighbourhood Support Nelson co-ordinator to set up Neighbourhood Support groups, particularly in the Stoke and Victory communities, and raise awareness of Neighbourhood Support within the migrant community. They will be able to work with people from different cultural backgrounds, and able to facilitate neighbourhood meetings.
For more information or to apply contact the Neighbourhood Support Nelson co-ordinator Karen Clark on firstname.lastname@example.org or ph 5464902. Applications close December 11.
