The government’s considering introducing a new law which will cost voluntary and community groups thousands of dollars per year in extra admin charges. Money these groups should be spending on doing good.
But they need OUR HELP to stop these plans.
If we can build a strong show of public opposition to the proposals, the government will face a choice.
They can either take hundreds of thousands of dollars out of community groups and charities, knowing they’ll face a huge public backlash, or they can do the right thing and scrap their plans.
The government’s new law would charge organisations for compulsory police checks for their volunteers. These are currently free – but under the plans, they’ll cost groups at least $5 for every single check. That really adds up for groups that have to check hundreds of volunteers.
PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION asking the government to scrap its plan to charge community groups for police checks?
