Governance Training – Governance For Volunteer Boards And Committees

This evening workshop is for anyone on or working with a board/committee who would like to improve their understanding of boards and their effectiveness. The workshop is aimed both at those in governance or management roles, as well as those thinking about joining a committee. It is for beginners as well as the experienced and frustrated.

This workshop will be interactive and will cover:

  • What is governance and how do organisations benefit from boards/committees?
  • What is expected of board/committee members?
  • Leadership – of oneself, committee and the manager/coordinator staff
  • Meetings – roles and responsibilities, tips to improve effectiveness.

The workshop will be led by Peter Hercock, who runs his own business, Monaco Business Services, providing business and training services to a wide range of business and organisations.  He works with both management and governance groups.  Peter is motivated to empower people and organisations to deliver good quality governance and leadership in the service of others.  He has been a voluntary mentor for Business Mentors NZ for the last 20 years, and for ten years was a community learning organisation manager, responsible to a governance committee.

Peter is an experienced adult training and learning facilitator, strategic thinker and planner, workplace wellness advocate, project manager, planner, and developer of organisational systems and processes.
