We have an exciting new Anzac event this year at Founders Heritage Park, Anzac Apple Day. Part of this event is an Alphabetical Bazaar which is a fundraising opportunity for non profit making organisations. We are looking for groups who would like to take part.
ANZAC APPLE DAY 27th April 2015.
We are looking for organisation who are interested in being involved in the
Alphabetical Bazaar at Nelsons ANZAC APPLE DAY to be hosted by Founders
Heritage Park on Monday 27 April 2015, the Public Holiday following ANZAC Day.
As part of the New Zealand’s First World War Centenary being acknowledged throughout the country, Nelson is also staging its own century celebrations. The Nelson City Council, RSA, Nelson Provencal Museum and Founders Heritage Park are staging various activities for the community’s remembrance, involvement and enjoyment.
During the First World War, events were held in Nelson to raise funds for wounded soldiers including the Fete of Nations, Signing of the Red Cross flag, Apple Day, and the Patriotic Concerts held nationwide. These events hosted traditional galas, bazaars, street parades and processions of decorated vehicles, flower shows, and many forms of entertainment including community brass bands, choirs, carnival queens and variety shows.
100 years later, as part of Nelson City Councils centenary celebrations, Founders Heritage Park is rediscovering Nelson’s wartime community spirit at ANZAC APPLE DAY. This event will run form 10am to 3.30pm, include an entry fee of $2.50 child, $5 adult, $10 family and feature a 1915 street party, war time music and entertainment, bazaar, games and exhibitions.
To make this day a success we would like to invite your organisation to take part in the Alphabetical Bazaar. This event happened during the First World War with stall holders selling items starting with a specific letter, or letters from the alphabet to raise money for wounded soldiers and their families.
Our Alphabetical Bazaar will be held in the Energy Centre which will be decked out in 1915 style. We are looking for non profit making organizations who are interested in using the bazaar as a fundraising opportunity. On your stall you could sell items, we would encourage you to think harvest, homemade
and handmade, or you could run an activity for example a tombola starting with a specific letter. In keeping with the spirit of wartime New Zealand we ask you to try to dress in the costume of the time. We will provide trestle tables, chairs and the large alphabetical letters. You need to provide your items for sale and your float.
