Just what is governance and what are the tips and techniques that make all the behind the scenes work go more smoothly? This is a half-day workshop for those on or working with boards and committees and who would like to get to grips with their roles and responsibilities. This workshop is aimed both at those in governance roles, and staff or management who work with boards or committees. The course will cover:
- Some principles of governance
- Governance concepts
- What exactly does a board or committee do?
- Roles, functions and responsibilities
- Allocating resources
- Some techniques that help things work better.
The presenter will be Ian Kearney, recently awarded a Companion of the NZ Order of Merit, who is very experienced in governance roles. His directorships include Network Tasman, Nelson School of Music, Nelson Airport Ltd, Nelson Tasman Business Trust and the Cawthron Institute, among others.
