Consumer representative panel members wanted for Maternity and Child Health Services project

A Consumer Representative Panel is being established to look at improving health services that families receive from the time a woman becomes pregnant through to when that child turns 6. The Panel will act as an advisory group to the Nelson Marlborough Maternity and Child Health Services Integration Project working group.

A successful collaboration between Nelson Marlborough
District Health Board, Kimi Hauora Wairau Marlborough PHO, Nelson Bays Primary
Health and local community providers resulted in the Top of South being one of
three sites around the country to implement a new project to improve child and
maternity services. The project’s main focus is on improving the integration
and coordination of services as they are delivered and experienced from
pregnancy through to when a child turns 6 years old.

As Health providers across the top of the South Island, we
want to ensure that families receive the best universal maternity and child
health services possible. We feel that the best way for this to happen is to
involve families in the ongoing design of the services they receive. One way of
doing this is to create a Consumer Representative Panel made up of mothers and
fathers who have been consumers of our maternity and child health services.
These services could include; your family doctor, midwife, the hospital,
Plunket, Family Start or Te Korowai Trust or other Well Child providers.

The Consumer Representative Panel is being established to
look at improving health services that families receive from the time a woman
becomes pregnant through to when that child turns 6. The Consumer
Representative Panel will act as an advisory group to the Nelson Marlborough
Maternity and Child Health Services Integration Project working group. The
purpose of the Consumer Representative Panel is to advise the working group on
the issues related to families in accessing and receiving maternity and child
health services in order to achieve more integrated universal services for
families within Nelson Marlborough.
