1 April to 30 June 2017

An opportunity for young people in the Tasman region to experience what it is like to be a volunteer in the emergency services. The fully funded programme is delivered in two phases. We do a session with each emergency service during Saturdays in April and May in Motueka. In the second phase, during May and June, we will connect you with emergency services in your local area and organise volunteering opportunities where possible.

Participants need to be aged 16 to 20 and based in the Tasman region.  Volunteer Nelson will help to provide transport options from around the region and cover travel costs. The dates for Phase 1 of the programme are 1 April, 8 April, 6 May, 13 May, 20 May. The sessions will run from 10am – 4pm. The emergency services involved are Urban Fire, Rural Fire, Coastguard, St. John and Land Search & Rescue.

Apply online via an easy online form here or contact Holly Drummond at holly@volunteernelson.org.nz or phone 03 546 7681 as soon as possible.

This is the second year Volunteer Nelson has worked with the Ministry of Social Development on YES programmes. Last year we developed a Nelson based Programme, this year we’ve been able to expand to a Tasman based programme as well.
