Understanding te ao Maaori – the Maori world.

Bob Tamihana will give a short introduction to all things Maori including the world view and basic concept, and clear up any confusion about Maoridom in today’s world. The workshop will include:

Ko Wai Au : Who am I? The Pepeha and its significance

The Land: Its significance pre colonisation, post colonisation.

The Marae: Its significance in the past and in today’s world.

Tupuna (ancestors): Their influence on us today.

Whanau/ Whanaunga: What does it mean, how do we demonstrate it? What does Whanau Ora really mean?

                                                                                                                                               

The Treaty of Waitangi and Te Whare Tapa Wha – A Maori model of health.

This will be Bob’s personal view and an introduction to Te Ao Maori, particularly aimed at non-Maori.
