THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL – however, there are still spaces on the Richmond workshop (Wed 25th May 5:30 till 8pm)

The workshop is aimed at existing and new governance board/committee members of voluntary and community organisations. The workshop will cover:

  • what is governance & why good governance is important
  • the responsibilities of a governing body (including legal requirements)
  • the relationship between a manager (paid or volunteer) and governing board/committee – who is responsible for what
  • how to participate effectively and the importance of building governance capacity for the voluntary and community sector

The workshop is led by Mary Curnow who has been working in the not-for-profit sector in NZ and the UK for the last 20 years or so as a volunteer, manager and trustee. Over the last 7 years, she has been actively involved in governance for a couple of organisations in Nelson and believes passionately that good governance is the foundation on which healthy, progressive and sustainable organisations are built. The cost for the workshop is $37.50 +gst.
