Our goal for our clients is to provide a safe and confidential service through crisis response, intensive support, court support and counselling, so that the survivor may work towards healing. We promote empowerment and our staff walks alongside women, children and their families/whanau, to enable them to set their own path forward. Each client is unique in their needs and we work to ensure that the process is client led and client focussed.
Motueka Women’s Support Link works to empower women of all ages to recognise their resourcefulness and reach their full potential. They work to increase safety for women and children and promote non-violent relationships. MWSL provides support, counselling and advocacy for women around domestic violence, relationship problems, grief, health, addictive behaviours, child-related issues, depression among many other issues. They work to respond to community needs and are a free and confidential service. They have been providing this service since 1987.
Recently the government identified gaps in specialist services around New Zealand and asked for proposals from organisations to establish services in those areas.
With a clear identified gap in specialist services in the Tasman region SASH-Nelson in collaboration with Motueka Women’s Support Link (with support from The Ministry of Social Development), have established Motueka SASH Support Link to provide 24/7 pager crisis services as well as 10 hours per week on-going support for women, children and their families/whanau who have experienced sexual abuse.
Motueka SASH Support Link will provide 24/7 pager coverage to respond to the Police where a woman or child is making a statement about sexual abuse. This service will also provide on-going support for women, children and their families/whanau.
Initially the service will cover to the top of Takaka Hill through to Tapawera.
With strong links to the community this collaboration with Motueka Women’s Support Link will be local women providing for local families with the on-going specialist support and mentoring from SASH-Nelson.
