Every year the 1st of October is International Day of Older Persons, and is celebrated throughout the world in many forms. Here in Nelson, Age Concern puts on a free afternoon’s entertainment and afternoon tea to mark the day. This year we’re delighted to be hosting classically trained singer Allison Cormack, who’ll be singing renditions of classics such as ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ from Carousel. We’ll also have a wonderful display of dancing – ballroom, contemporary and hip hop, from a variety of dance troupes around the region. The event is in the Richmond Town Hall on Cambridge Street on Wednesday 1st October, with doors opening from 1 pm to get seated for a 1.30 pm start, finishing at 3 pm. Please register with us on 544 7624 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
