A large number of people and organisations are collaborating to write a digital strategy for Nelson as part of the gigatown competition.  We need your feeback to make sure it fully represents the community development sector

Bearing in mind how very tight time is, both for all of you and for the completion of the strategy (first draft is on 24 August), for the next phase we are looking for some input from you by email.

We would be very grateful if you could send us back your thoughts on the following:

1.       We have described the community development outcome of the digital strategy
as: ‘a community which has equitable access to the internet and digital technology,
and is confident in its use’.

Do you agree with this description or can you suggest other outcomes?

2.       We identified the following road blocks to digital involvement/inclusion in our
community – have we missed anything?

·         Lack of access to internet

    Cost of access to internet

·         Lack of knowledge and skills

·         Lack of resources in the community development sector

·         Fear of new technology (cyber safety, technology too complex with too many choices)

Can you list 3 (or more) things that could be done to overcome these roadblocks?

3.       What in your opinion would be the best way to create digital hubs to support everyone in our community?

4.       To enable you to support community development, what are the digital tools that you need?

5.       What is the most useful thing a digital strategy could deliver to the community?

6.       What is the most useful thing a digital strategy could deliver to you?

7.       Any other feedback?

Next steps:

We will collate all your feedback and report back.

Please can you respond by return so that we can ensure your feedback is captured in the first draft. Do please contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards
