Volunteer Nelson with the Nelson Tasman Youth Workers Collective is to host a Youth Volunteering Summit on 31 July. It is for organisations, youth workers, and anyone working with or well-connected with teens and those in their 20s. We want to establish the steps to support, promote and enable youth volunteering in our communities. How do we support leadership and recognition of all the volunteering that is happening? How could we create the sort of roles, projects and tools that work for a wider range of people? What are the issues? What is needed?
The date has been confirmed Thursday 31 July from 12 noon to 2 pm. Join us for a pizza-fueled working lunch.
It will be held at the Salvation Army upstairs meeting room, Rutherford St entry to Montgomery Square.
Do you hold a piece of the puzzle? If you can help us understand the problems, issues, barriers and be part of creating the solutions, we would love to have you at the Youth Volunteering Summit.
Our inspiring guest speaker will be Jason Pemberton, one of the key founders of the Student Volunteer Foundation in Christchurch.
Volunteer Nelson previously supported and administered Youth Volunteer Awards, which in their time, recognised some inspiring young volunteers. In more recent years, however, this format became very complex and expensive to administer and it was found that it didn’t appeal to youth generally or grow youth volunteering. To promote, extend or support youth volunteering we want to find out what would help remove barriers and make it easy for more people to get involved in volunteering. It might be a website, it might be an app, or it could be something else entirely. Help us find out what the future of youth volunteering could look like in Nelson and Tasman.
Please RSVP for catering. If you would like to be there and keep informed, please contact email@example.com or phone 546 7681.
