For that reason they are pleased that Workstar has Charitable Status with the Charities Commission and has donee status in terms of the Income Tax Act 2007.
Businesses and individuals are able to claim deductions or refundable tax credits for donations to Workstar.
Many businesses in the Nelson Region and
individuals value Workstar’s supported employment service because it supports
over 100 people each year to find and maintain work in our region. For

We will work with you acknowledge your donation so that it maximise the
benefit to your firm or interests.
Companies (section DB 41 Income Tax Act 2007) or Maori Authorities
(section DC 12 Income Tax Act 2007) may claim a tax deduction for any donations
made to the Workstar, however the deduction is limited to the amount of
their net income for the year concerned.
For example for every $1 a cleaning company donates they will
not pay in tax.
Individuals can make a donation to Workstar and are able to
claim a refundable tax credit (sectionLD 1 Income Tax Act 2007) at the end
of the financial; year of 33 1/3% of the total donations they make. This
is up to the individual’s total taxable income for the financial year.
For example for every $1 a grateful parent donated from their
net income 33.33 cents will be rebated to them.
